The castle, or "castrum" of Allègre is the only former knights' village in the region, as well as an exptional place to go hiking,

It is registered in the "Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques". The heritage of this Knights' village, which is renowned since the 12th century, is very rich, and there are still many remains of its past glory. It was destroyed during the Rebellion of the Tuchins.

The site is 275m above sea level and the view on the Cévennes and the Mont Bouquet is beautiful. A recent orientation table will help you decipher the exceptional view.
