The Château des Roure is a medieval castle.

The fortress majestically overlooks the rocks of the Ardèche. The fortified site, buit during the 15th Century, used to keep watch on the access created by the natural arch of the Pont d'Arc.

Still intact, the Château des Roure was renovated in a extraordinary way between 2013 and 2016: touwers, dungeons, frameworks and rooms have all been restored to their former beauty.

At the Château des Roure, everything has been thought through to help you go back in time and discover the different periods through the various rooms of the castle.

Follow the footsteps of the knights and inhabitants of the castle.
Discover silk-worm farming with real live silkworms ans learn how silk is wound on spin mills. Let the peculiar smell of silk carry you away. In the 19th Century, the Ardèche grew rich thanks to the silkworm industry, and eventually made it the 3rd industrial power in France.
Go back to the time when religion wars were raging, leaving their marks on the history of the castle and on French heritage.
Climb the dungeon or walk along the battlement as the soldiers on watch used to. This first line of defence has become an ideal 360° viewpoint from which to take photos or just admire the landscape.
Will you dare enter the oubliette, where the ghost of the castle is waiting for you? Meet him to hear about his mysterious story.
Discover the biggest medieval siege machine, the trebuchet, inside the castle walls. Nowadays, projectiles still fly into the distant horizon.
Go for a walk inside the castle park to take a look at the mulberry trees.
