Plages de la Cèze

  • Plages de la Cèze

Whether you like quiet and calm places, swimmiing or just lazing about, you will enjoy the 3 beaches of Méjannes-le-Clap: the Plage du Roy, the Plage de Quittard and the Plage de Terris.

Whichever beach you choose to go to, you can stay there for the day for all 3 are equipped with picnic tables, petanque strips, and big car parks. You can drive to the beaches but you can also walk there, or ride there (on a bike or even on a horse!). However, even if walking to the beaches is rather easy thanks to the many marked paths in the area, remember you will have to back: since the beaches are in the gorges - obviously- you will going down a rather steep path to reach them, and you therefore will have to go all the way up afterwards. But don't worry the beauty of the gorges is more than worth the effort. A hiking map is for sale at the Tourist Information Office if you wish to explore the area more thoroughly. All the dolmens, interesting views, sinkholes and caves of the plateau are on it.

It is perfect to go swimming in the spring or summer heat, but keep in mind the beaches are unsupervised, so watch your family!.The water of the 3 shingle beaches is regularly tested.  If you have a parasol, we suggest you take it with you for there is little shade near the beahces.

You will be delighted by the Gorges of the Cèze and you will enjoy a beautiful view on the cliffs towering above the river. If you are lucky, you may even spot wild goats at the Plage du Roy. Alone, with friends or family, you are sure to love the Cèze and its gorges.

We advise you to avoid the beaches during and immediately after heavy rains since they are easily flooded.
